What is squad Training?
At the Folsom Karate Academy, we are always striving for the most well rounded and effective forms of training. Most importantly, We recognize that everyone is different. Both children and adults need specialized attention to cater to their personal strengths, development needs, and growth as martial artists and athletes. The Academy's squad training system is designed by Adam Hamlin after personally conducting Tens of thousands of classes and spending nearly 16 years modifying the Academy's program to fit observations, developments in psychology and training methods as well as developments in the evolution of modern martial arts itself. The program is designed to maximize a students training time by giving more personal exposure to an instructor along with more training time with other students. Below is a simple breakdown of how the schedule works.
- Every student attends a small squad of other students that are close in age, ability, and rank. They train with this squad throughout their martial arts career in a small class once a week at a set time. In squad class, we focus on development of new knowledge in a personalized learning environment.
- Every student has access to group classes that focus on skill development, application, athletic development, flexibility, and body work.
- Every student is evaluated personally at regular intervals to ensure proper development of both body and skill.
